Pony Gang Equestrian Services began offering its first Homeschool Riding Program in September 2017, supporting homeschool students from Richland County, Sumter County, and Kershaw County. From the beginning, our goal has been to combine a child’s love for horses with meaningful, hands-on education—following the same horse-first, age-appropriate philosophy used in all Pony Gang riding programs.

Since moving to our farm in Hopkins, South Carolina in 2022, we are proud to serve homeschool families from Hopkins, Columbia, Lexington, and Sumter with a unique learning opportunity. Our homeschool program offers more than traditional horseback riding lessons; it also provides horse-based educational material that parents can incorporate into their homeschool studies, making learning engaging, memorable, and fun.

Learning Through Horses

Pony Gang created this program with horse-loving children and youth in mind, because children learn best when education is built around something they truly enjoy. Through guided riding, horsemanship activities, and hands-on learning, students naturally develop confidence, responsibility, focus, and problem-solving skills, while also exploring academic concepts through real-world experiences with horses.

Our Homeschool Program supports learning across multiple disciplines while teaching important life skills, all in a positive and supportive barn environment.

About the Homeschool Classes

Homeschool students are invited to discover the world of horses through our specially designed 3-month introductory Homeschool Program for ages 3–16. This program is ideal for beginners and students with little to no horse experience and focuses on building safe, confident interactions with horses both on the ground and in the saddle.

Because this homeschool program is offered at a reduced monthly rate, families commit to a 3-month lesson period. This commitment allows students the time they need to build trust with the horses, develop consistency, and make meaningful progress—without rushing the learning process.
