Our Story: A Dream Realized

Many years ago…

..............., a little girl living in a small town near Frankfurt, Germany, spent all her free time at the local riding stables. Her love for horses was undeniable, and she dreamed of one day creating a place where children could learn to ride and care for horses. She held onto that dream, sharing it with her husband and two horse-loving daughters. Together, they began offering riding lessons at a small facility in Germany, working with horses and children.

In November 2012, their dream came true when the family moved to Camden, South Carolina. They purchased a small ranch house with pastureland, choosing the location for its peaceful, rural setting while still being close to the husband’s workplace. With hard work and dedication, the family rebuilt their riding program, offering lessons to children and adults alike. By the end of 2013, they relaunched their riding school, Pony Gang, far from its original home in Germany.

Pony Gang’s year-round program began with nine horses and ponies that traveled with them from Germany. Over the years, the family expanded their offerings, growing the program into a vibrant community for riders of all ages and abilities.

In 2022, Pony Gang relocated to a larger property in Hopkins, South Carolina, providing even more space for their growing herd and students.

Today, Pony Gang is home to 45 horses, ponies, mules, and donkeys—25 of which are actively used in lessons. The riding school currently has about 40 regular students, and that number continues to grow each year. The program has flourished, with a focus on providing top-notch instruction in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The Pony Gang Farm Today

Set on 28.5 acres in Hopkins, the farm is both a working equestrian center and a home for the Terebayza family. Their charming cedar-sided house sits on the property, while the rest of the farm is dedicated to the care and training of their horses and riders.

  • A historic wood cabin, built in 1910, has been lovingly restored and now serves as a cozy space on the farm.

  • A 36x20 building that’s air-conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter offers a comfortable spot for parents and siblings to wait while their loved ones are in lessons.

  • Two barns with 25 stalls house the horses, with plans in place to upgrade them to paddock boxes for added freedom and movement.

  • A large sand paddock with a run-in shelter provides ample space for the miniature horses.

  • The property features a 100x200 jumping arena, a 20x60 beginner arena with mirrors, and ongoing improvements to pastures and facilities.

Located just 8 miles from Columbia and 80 miles from Charlotte, NC, Pony Gang Farm offers a peaceful retreat from city life, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle while pursuing their passion for horseback riding.
